This time, Hisun Lithium has successfully been shortlisted for the "2025 GaoGong Golden Globe Award—Innovation of the Year: Technology Product," marking a significant recognition from GaoGong Industry Research and industry experts of Hisun Lithium's outstanding innovation capabilities. The tech talk electrified the audience, with in-situ polymerized electrolyte taking center stage.
At this year's annual conference's Core Technology Forum, Song Fei, Vice President of Research and Development at Hisun Lithium, unveiled a groundbreaking innovation: a high-performance in-situ polymerization gel electrolyte. Leveraging three major breakthroughs in core technology, the solution addresses industry challenges such as thermal runaway and cycle degradation in high-voltage cobalt oxide lithium batteries under high temperatures, drawing intense attention from the audience. This technology focuses squarely on three key demands: "performance, safety, and processability."
1. Utilizing advanced technologies, we have identified Gel-C gel monomers with low HOMO values and high LUMO values from the candidate materials. Through rational monomer selection and crosslinking design, we have not only enhanced the polymer backbone's high-temperature resistance but also improved its ion-transport capabilities, achieving a high room-temperature ionic conductivity exceeding 5 mS/cm. Additionally, this approach effectively mitigates gas generation at elevated temperatures while maintaining outstanding cycling stability across both ambient and high-temperature conditions—making it suitable for a wide range of applications.
2. Innovatively employ the "in-situ curing process" to fabricate a stable three-dimensional polymer network, addressing the longstanding challenge of "poor solid-solid interfacial contact" in traditional gel electrolytes. Simultaneously, this approach forms a robust polymer film on the electrode surface, effectively inhibiting the dissolution of cobalt ions and safeguarding the SEI/CEI interface.
3. Optimized formulation achieves oxidative stability exceeding 4.5V, making it compatible with high-voltage cobalt oxide lithium batteries and helping to boost energy density. Additionally, its cycle stability outperforms that of liquid electrolytes.
